Follow Us Friday - Fun fun and more fun!

Today is a big day, it's Roman's last day of daycare!  I'm not going to get into how I feel about it right this second because I might cry, so we'll leave that for later on.  Our morning is going to be full of fun and hopefully this afternoon I'll manage to get something accomplished on my last afternoon to myself!

7:15am - Breakfast
No pictures of breakfast today because my camera was in the basement and dead as a door knob this morning.  I really need to learn to plan for this better!  Roman had some delicious apple cinnamon waffles with syrup, bananas and milk.  I had a very uninspiring breakfast that consisted of two pieces of toast with margarine and chocolate milk!

7:45am - Get ready and play!
After we cleaned up from breakfast we headed down the hallway singing our morning song.  "dressed, dressed, dressed.  We're going to get dressed".  Okay I'm not going to win a Grammy for that song but Roman seems to enjoy it and he's starting to sing along with me.  It's also the only way I can persuade him to leave his toys and allow me to torture him by changing his diaper and his outfit.  Today Roman was gracious enough to pretty much leave me alone while I quickly got ready for the day.  Sure I ended up with a wagon full of blocks in the bathroom with me but I was able to do what I needed to do.

Lately Roman's favorite thing to play is cars.  Over the last week or so I have spent many hours perched on a tiny, hard chair, rolling cars/trucks/tractors/ambulances back and forth, rescuing them from the floor and dodging the ones being launched at my head.  Would I trade it for anything in the world?  Absolutely not!

9:30am - Yara Centre with friends!
Lately a few of us Moms from a local Mom Facebook group have been getting together once a week for the kids to run around and burn some energy, and for us to have some visit time.  Roman loves going to the Yara Centre here in Moose Jaw because there is so much for him to do.  Today was extra fun for him because there were a ton of kids there, at least 10!  Roman was all over the place and definitely put some miles on.  He spent some time with the blocks before taking off chasing an older kid with a ball, then he went for a ride on the parachute courtesy of moi.  Once the kids saw Roman riding the parachute everyone wanted to, but I just wasn't strong enough to pull everyone.  So a few other Moms joined in and we spread the chute out and shook it while the kids jump in it.  Roman had a BLAST!  His arms were flapping so fast with excitement that I thought he was going to take off.  I don't think he has ever had as much fun there as he did today.  We had so much fun that time ran away from us and we didn't leave until 11:15am!  Poor Roman missed his morning snack all together!  How he was able to live through that is beyond me, but I definitely have to learn to pack snacks with us when we leave the house now!

11:30am - Lunch
With me loosing track of time lunch was made in a hurry.  By the time we got home Roman was feeling his hunger and wanted to eat NOW.  I plopped him in his chair and piled some cheese in front of him while I warmed up some leftover taco bake for him to eat for lunch.  Unfortunately he was so hungry that he managed to eat the cheese before his food was warm so I also had to feed him a yogurt cup while we waited.  Taco bake warmed and down the hatch it went!  This meal went by so fast it was like feeding sharks.  While I was feeding Roman I noticed someone come up to our front door.  Turns out John had some flowers delivered to the house for me!  How sweet is that!  I was so busy feeding Roman that I didn't get a chance to eat myself.  Fed and happy I loaded Roman into the car and away we went to...

12:05pm - Daycare
I think I'm a little backwards but I am so emotional about Roman leaving daycare.  I know he loves it there and I feel like I'm stripping all his friends from him!  The poor kid will be stuck with just me all day.  Granted we do make a few outings a week to play with other kids, but I still feel guilty.  Sometimes motherhood feels like on giant guilt trip, we always feel guilty about something.  Gah, the things people don't tell you!  Poor kid was so tired from all his playing this morning that he fell asleep on the drive over.  I tried to get him into the building without waking him but it didn't work.  His teachers told me yesterday that he had his best day ever and was walking around waving at all the kids and teachers, so I had hope that he would have an equally awesome day today for his last day.

Does anyone else drive with a stash of toys in the console?  Roman doesn't like his toy bar on his chair anymore so now I have a pile of toys that I can pass back as he looses them.  On my way home I stopped at Tim Horton's to pick up a gift card for Roman's teachers as a going away gift.  While I was there this delicious Pumpkin Spice muffin spoke to me and said "EAT ME!!!!" so I bought it.  When I got home I learnt that this muffin was my lunch so it had better be good.  I didn't disappoint.  Spicy, warm and crunchy (seeds) paired with the smooth and gooey cream cheese icing makes for one heavenly muffin.

1:00pm - The Social and getting stuff done!
Since this is probably the last time I will get the chance to sit down and enjoy an episode of The Social, I figured I had better take advantage of it.  Of course I couldn't just sit there and watch TV, because I can't just sit for anything, so I pulled out the laptop and did a bit of blogging.

Today is Tuesday so that means we have swimming lessons tonight!  I decided I wanted to make a lemon chicken pasta dish for supper so I decided to get a jump on it to make supper time go faster.  Once I finished that I managed to catch one of my favorite shows, Hot in Cleveland; such a funny show!  Unfortunately it was such a good episode that at 3:55pm, when I needed to leave the house at 4:00pm, I realized I forgot to shave my legs, AH!  3 minutes and what I'm sure will be a nasty case of razor burn later and I was out the door!

4:15pm - Pick up Roman
I was so glad to hear that Roman had another fantastic day!  I kinda wish he would have had these awesome days earlier on, but what can you do.  The staff was so excited that Roman had such a good day that they took all kinds of pictures and they were all running up to me as soon as I came in to tell me how well he did.  After saying our goodbyes and collecting Roman's pictures and projects we headed out of daycare for the last time.  Thinking about it again is enough to make me want to cry.

5:00pm - SWIMMING!!!
Roman just might love swimming more than he loves eating.....maybe.  In a effort to get Roman into the pool faster I completely forgot to grab my camera from the car before heading in, so no cute pictures of my little hunk in his trucks.  Roman loved every minute of his swim lesson today.  We sang Tiny Turtle, practiced our belly and back floats, and did a ton of splashing.  I can't believe we only have 2 more lessons left!  That was the fastest 8 weeks ever!

6:30pm - Supper
Supper was fairly quick since all I had to do was reheat what I cooked earlier and boil the spaghetti.  Supper is never quick enough for Roman though so he usually has a few crackers while I get supper on the table.  As you can tell from Roman's Einstein hair, he really enjoyed his supper and gobbled it up with gusto.  He followed his pasta with raspberries and grapes.  I've never heard of coronation grapes before but I recently found them at Superstore and Roman is in love!  John was a little late getting home tonight so he ate while Roman sat on his knee and watched.

7:00pm - Tubby Time
I'm happy to report that moving tubby time up at 7 has solved the problem of Roman screaming in the tub.  Tonight sounded quite calm and I'm told that Roman even said "aaahhhh" to have his teeth brushed!
7:45pm - Bed Time
That was almost too easy.  I better not say too much or I'll jinx it and he'll be up all night.  After Roman when to sleep.  John headed downstairs to finish up a project for me and I set up shop on the couch to finish up this blog post.  It's actually raining so hard here right now that our power is flickering on and off.  Hopefully I can get this wrapped up before the power goes out or my battery dies!

  1. Ever since I first started trying to read this on Friday, I've been craving toast and butter and chocolate milk!! One of these days... Lol. I can't believe how fast that month went! I'm happy Roman had a good last day!! And I think you're an incredible mom he won't be missing out on any fun. He's growing up so fast! Handsome little dude. Btw- is he forward facing now? Does it make life in the car that much easier??

    1. Thanks for the vote of confidence. He's still rear facing and he seems to enjoy it for the most part.
